چکیده
UNLABELLED Publication of the report of Bergman et al. should stimulate replications by others. If these investigators' findings are confirmed, and clear guidelines for the care of premature infants in the kangaroo method in the first 6 h and beyond are published, with particular attention to warm coverings for the babies' backs, this research could benefit large numbers of premature infants in the Third World. CONCLUSION As the authors indicate, skin-to-skin contact from the birth of premature infants may also be a good alternative in First World settings.

The Effect of Postpartum Mother–Infant Skin-to-Skin Contact on Exclusive Breastfeeding In neonatal period: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Background: The rate of exclusive breast feeding is low in many societies and has diminished in recent years in Iran. This study was conducted to determine the effects of postpartum mother–infant skin-to-skin contact on exclusive breastfeeding in neonatal period. Materials and Methods: This was a randomized control trial. 114 healthy primiparous mothers and their neonates were recruited in Om-...
متن کاملEarly skin-to-skin contact or incubator for very preterm infants: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial
BACKGROUND Skin-to-skin care immediately following delivery is a common practice for term infants and has been shown to improve cardiorespiratory stability, facilitate early bonding, and promote breastfeeding. Since 2007, the use of skin-to-skin care has been practiced for preterm infants from 32 weeks of gestation in the delivery room at St. Olav's University Hospital. In the present study we ...
متن کاملNewly born low birthweight infants stabilise better in skin-to-skin contact than when separated from their mothers: a randomised controlled trial.
AIM Routine care of low birthweight (LBW) neonates relies on incubators for stabilisation. An earlier study suggested that skin-to-skin contact achieves better physiological stability in the transition period when compared to incubator care. The aim of this study was to replicate that study with a larger sample. METHODS A randomised controlled trial with LBW infants (1500-2500 g) randomised a...
متن کاملTopical Channa striatus 5% cream for inflammatory skin conditions: A phase I randomized double-blind, controlled trial
Background: Channa striatus or better known as the haruan fish is an indigenous, snakehead, striped, air breathing freshwater fish of Malaysia and has long been consumed traditionally during post-operative and post-partum period to speed recovery. Most medical properties of the haruan are contributed to its high content of essential fatty and amino acids. This was a phase I clinical trial to ex...
متن کاملEffects of the Different Light-Source Distances from the Skin Surface in Conventional Photother-apy
Phototherapy is a conventional method of lowering serum bilirubin in newborn jaundice. We evaluated the short distance in relation to conventional long distance phototherapy between the light-source and the skin surface. Healthy jaundiced neonates undergoing phototherapy were randomized into two groups. The distance between the light-source and the newborn's skin was 20 and 40 centimeters (G20;...
